When couples from different cultural backgrounds struggle to create authentic collaborative art

My wife and I are both artists but from completely different cultural backgrounds and we're trying to create work together that honors both our traditions without appropriating or diluting either one, and every piece we start feels like we're walking through a minefield of what's respectful versus what's authentic. We keep second-guessing ourselves and each other and nothing we make feels like it belongs to either of our worlds or creates something genuinely new.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two creators are paralyzed by the competing demands of cultural authenticity and creative innovation, unable to find confident footing in the liminal space between traditions.
