When co-authors lose their individual voices

My writing partner and I have been working on this novel for two years and somewhere along the way we started editing each other's voice out of our own sections - every character now sounds like the compromise between our two styles instead of having the distinct flavor either of us would bring alone. We're making it more neutral and calling it collaboration.
