When creative partners disagree on artistic vision

My writing partner and I started this novel because we both love unreliable narrators, but now we're realizing we have completely different ideas about what makes a character sympathetic versus just irritating. Every time one of us writes a scene, the other person's edits feel like they're trying to save the reader from what we actually intended.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two creators discover their shared aesthetic language masks fundamentally different relationships to their audience.
