When intellectual groups lose authentic curiosity

Our art book club has been meeting for three years and we used to have these incredible discussions about beauty and meaning, but somewhere along the way it became more about showing off how much we know. We all still love art, but the conversations feel performative now and I miss the genuine wonder we used to share, but I don't know how to bring it back without sounding like I'm criticizing everyone.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A community built around shared aesthetic appreciation has gradually shifted from genuine exploration to competitive display, leaving members nostalgic for a more innocent form of engagement.
