When creative collectives face success and discover conflicting values

Our art collective started because we all felt like outsiders in the local scene, but now that we're getting some recognition, we're discovering we have very different ideas about success and what we want our platform to become. Some of us want to stay underground and experimental while others are excited about mainstream opportunities, and these conversations are getting heated in ways that surprise me.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

External validation can reveal internal fractures that were invisible when the group defined itself primarily in opposition to something else.
