When an art collective faces success that threatens its original vision

Our art collective started with five people who all believed in making work that challenges conventional beauty standards, but now that we're getting gallery attention, three of us want to push further into uncomfortable territory while two want to create pieces that could actually sell. Every planning meeting feels like we're negotiating between our principles and our survival, and I can feel us starting to split along lines we never acknowledged before.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group's shared values fracture under the pressure of external validation and financial reality.
