When creative groups become too comfortable to challenge each other

Our artist collective has been meeting monthly for two years and we've developed this beautiful supportive dynamic, but lately I've been feeling like we're all being too nice to each other and avoiding the harder conversations about each other's work. The feedback has become gentle and encouraging but not particularly useful, and I'm craving more rigor but don't want to disrupt the trust we've built.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The preservation of harmony can become a barrier to the deeper forms of creative growth that require productive friction.
