When community theater groups struggle with authoritarian directorial styles

Our community theater group has this director who has very strong opinions about everything and most of us respect their vision but we've stopped offering our own ideas because they shut down suggestions so quickly. We all joined because we love theater but now we just feel like we're being moved around like furniture and nobody knows how to address it without seeming ungrateful or unprofessional.

What we've seen

The line between strong creative leadership and creative suppression becomes blurred when the desire to serve the work conflicts with the need to contribute to it.
