When creative feedback groups become too comfortable to be useful

Our writing group has been meeting for two years and we've gotten really good at being supportive, but I think we've stopped actually challenging each other's work. Everyone's writing has plateaued including mine, and when someone shares something that isn't working, we all just find nice things to say about it instead of helping them make it better.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A creative community has prioritized emotional safety over artistic growth, creating a space that feels good but no longer serves its stated purpose.
