When creative groups prioritize harmony over honest feedback

Our writing group has been meeting for two years and we've gotten really good at being supportive, but lately I feel like we're all protecting each other's feelings instead of making each other's work better. The feedback has become so gentle that I'm not growing as a writer anymore, and I suspect the others feel the same way but nobody wants to be the one to break the nice dynamic we've built.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A creative community reaches the point where emotional safety begins to inhibit the very growth it was meant to foster.
