When your creative group stops giving honest feedback

We started this creative writing group two years ago to hold each other accountable and share honest feedback, but somewhere along the way we became too precious with each other's feelings and now our workshop sessions feel like elaborate politeness rituals. Everyone brings work that feels safe rather than vulnerable, and when someone does share something raw, we don't know how to honor it with the kind of response that actually helps.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A creative community has prioritized emotional safety over artistic growth, creating a feedback culture too gentle to foster meaningful development.
