My best friend and I used to have these ridiculous adventures and take weird risks together but now when I suggest something spontaneous she always has reasons why we can't and I think we've both become the kind of adults we used to make fun of. Neither of us wants to be the irresponsible one but we're boring ourselves to death.
More people experience this than they realize.
Both people have internalized adult responsibility so completely they've forgotten how to access their capacity for joyful recklessness together.
