How to navigate walking together through grief

My dad and I walk together every weekend since mom died but we never talk about anything real, just weather and neighborhood changes. We're both showing up but I think we're afraid if we actually talk while walking we might fall apart, so we just keep moving in silence.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

You're using movement as a way to be together without having to face what's between you, but the avoidance is making the connection hollow.
