When family game time becomes a battleground with teenagers

My teenage kids used to beg us to play board games and now when I suggest it they roll their eyes and participate grudgingly, going through the motions until they can escape back to their rooms. My spouse says to just let it go but I'm mourning the loss of this thing we all used to love together and I don't know if I'm being pathetic.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The natural evolution of family dynamics collides with the desire to preserve connection through shared traditions.
