When environmental groups split over anthropocentric versus ecocentric values

Our environmental action group started because we all believed nature has intrinsic value, but now half of us only talk about ecosystem services and economic arguments while the other half thinks that's exactly the wrong approach. We're paralyzed because we can't agree on why protecting nature matters, which was supposed to be our foundation.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Fundamental disagreements about the source of nature's value have fractured the group's ability to take coherent action.
