Our environmental activism group used to feel like a family — we'd have potlucks after protests, celebrate small wins, make up silly chants that actually made people smile at rallies. The issues have gotten more urgent and our work more intense, but we've lost all the lightness that made this sustainable for us as humans, and I'm watching good people burn out because we've forgotten how to have fun while fighting for the planet.
More people experience this than they realize.
The urgency of environmental crisis has made your group forget that sustainable activism requires sustainable joy.
