When comedy groups split over whether humor should be political or purely joyful

Our improv group started as a way to process our shared experience of being immigrants through comedy, but now half of us think we should be more political and the other half just want to have fun, and we can't agree on whether examining our lives through humor means being activists or just finding joy. Every rehearsal turns into a debate about purpose.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The group is fracturing over competing visions of what it means to examine life through comedy—entertainment versus activism.
