When support groups get stuck in dysfunctional dynamics

Four of us formed a men's group two years ago to work on emotional intimacy and vulnerability, but now one person dominates every conversation with his drama and another has gotten so uncomfortable with conflict that he just agrees with everything. We started this to grow together but it feels like we're stuck in roles that aren't serving anyone.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group created for mutual growth has unconsciously recreated the very patterns its members sought to heal, requiring conscious disruption of established roles.
