My book club started three years ago as a way for six women to discuss literature but it's evolved into this intense therapy-like space where we share everything, and lately I'm feeling overwhelmed by everyone's problems but also guilty for wanting boundaries. We've never talked about what this group actually is or what we need from each other.
More people experience this than they realize.
Groups can drift into levels of intimacy and emotional labor that were never explicitly chosen or structured.
