When long-term friend groups grow apart but nobody acknowledges it

My college friend group of six has stayed close for fifteen years but lately our group chat and hangouts feel forced and I can tell we're all just going through the motions of friendship while our actual lives have grown apart. Nobody wants to be the one to say it but I think we're all feeling like we don't really know each other anymore.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Relationships can persist in form while losing substance, creating a shared pretense that serves no one.
