When cultural TCM background creates emotional disconnect between partners

My husband grew up in a Chinese family where TCM emotional-organ relationships were just part of how they talked about feelings, but I'm learning this stuff as an adult and I feel like I'm always getting it wrong. When I say I'm sad, he'll immediately start talking about lung qi or large intestine patterns, and I end up feeling like my emotions aren't valid unless they fit into the right organ system, which makes me shut down completely.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Different relationships to traditional knowledge are creating a hierarchy where one person's emotional expression gets filtered through the other's diagnostic framework, blocking authentic intimacy.
