When couples in academia can't agree on whether to stay in or leave the system

My partner and I are both adjunct professors at different universities and we keep having the same fight about whether we're selling out by staying in academia or selling out by considering leaving, and it's like we're each trying to convince ourselves through convincing the other. We both know the system is broken but we can't figure out if we're part of the problem or if there's still something worth preserving here.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are using their relationship as a battleground for their own unresolved ambivalence about their professional choices and institutional loyalty.
