When couples have incompatible note-taking systems for shared projects

My partner and I are both PhD students and we've developed completely opposite note-taking systems that worked fine individually, but now we're collaborating on research and our methods are so incompatible we can't even share ideas effectively. I'm all digital with elaborate tagging systems and she's purely analog with notebooks and index cards, and every time we try to work together it becomes this frustrating translation exercise.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people's individual optimization strategies are creating collective inefficiency and relationship friction.
