When both parents are twice-exceptional and raising a 2e child

My partner and I are both twice-exceptional — I have ADHD with high verbal abilities, he has autism with exceptional mathematical skills — and we're struggling to support our 8-year-old who's showing signs of being 2e too but in completely different ways than either of us. We keep projecting our own experiences onto her and missing what she actually needs.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two neurodivergent parents are unconsciously imposing their own twice-exceptional patterns on their child instead of seeing her unique profile clearly.
