When parents and teenagers struggle with mental health simultaneously

My teenage daughter and I are both dealing with depression and sometimes I can't tell if I'm helping her or if we're just drowning together, especially when my bad days coincide with hers and neither of us can be the stable one. I want to model healing for her but I'm still figuring it out myself and I don't know how much of my own struggle to share.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A parent's own healing journey is intertwined with their child's in ways that blur boundaries and complicate the caregiving relationship.
