When parent and child are both in crisis simultaneously

My teenage daughter and I are both going through major life transitions - she's dealing with depression and I'm going through a divorce - and sometimes I catch myself leaning on her emotionally in ways that don't feel appropriate. We're both struggling but I'm supposed to be the parent and I don't know how to be present for her pain when I'm barely managing my own.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The natural hierarchy of care becomes complicated when both parties are in acute need of support.
