When family members train together despite mismatched abilities

My teenage daughter and I decided to train for a half-marathon together, but she's naturally athletic and I'm struggling with every run, and I can see her getting frustrated with my pace while I'm getting discouraged by the comparison. We both want to finish this goal together but our different abilities are making something that was supposed to bond us feel like it's creating distance instead.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Shared commitment to achievement is being undermined by the natural human tendency to compare progress rather than honor individual effort.
