When generational differences emerge through family history research

My teenage daughter and I started exploring our family's feminist history for her school project, but she's becoming angry about choices her grandmother and I made that she sees as setbacks. Our historical research is turning into judgment about different generations' compromises and I don't know how to help her understand context without dismissing her feelings.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Historical study across generations reveals incompatible values, creating judgment where understanding was intended.
