When parent and child both have ADHD but different needs

My teenage daughter has ADHD and I'm realizing I probably do too, but now every conversation about her struggles turns into me either over-identifying with her experience or getting triggered by my own undiagnosed past. We can't seem to talk about her needs without it becoming about my stuff and I can see her pulling away.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Shared neurodivergence is creating enmeshment rather than understanding, with one person's recognition overshadowing the other's immediate needs.
