When creative groups evolve beyond their original structure but fear changing

My writing group has been meeting for two years and we've all grown as writers but I think we've outgrown our original structure — some people want more craft focus, others want more personal sharing, and I can feel us all being polite instead of honest about what we actually need now. We're afraid that changing anything will break what we have.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group that has found safety in familiar forms is now constrained by them, but fears that growth requires loss.
