When your learning group avoids intellectual depth and real inquiry

Our book club started as a way to really dig into ideas together, but I'm noticing we've settled into this surface-level discussion pattern where everyone just shares their opinion and moves on. A couple of us want to go deeper — to really wrestle with difficult concepts — but others seem uncomfortable with that level of intellectual intensity and I don't know how to bridge that gap.

What we've seen

A group committed to collective learning is struggling with different comfort levels around intellectual vulnerability and genuine inquiry.
