How to navigate intellectual resistance in an emotion-focused meditation group

Our meditation group started because we all wanted to work with difficult emotions but two of the members keep intellectualizing everything and deflecting from actual feeling work. The rest of us are getting frustrated because we came here to actually transform our relationship with anxiety and grief, not just talk about it, and I don't know how to address this without fracturing the whole group.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A contemplative community is discovering that not everyone is ready for the same depth of inner work, and the mismatch is threatening both individual growth and group cohesion.
