Our writing group started with five people committed to daily practice and honest feedback, but two people dropped out after getting defensive about criticism, and now the three of us left are walking on eggshells, giving only gentle encouragement instead of the rigorous feedback we originally wanted. We're all improving slower than we hoped and I don't know if we should find new people or change our approach or just accept that maybe serious skill development can't happen in a supportive group setting.
