When creative partnerships outgrow themselves

My best friend and I started a creative project together two years ago and we've both changed so much since then but neither of us wants to admit that what we're making isn't what either of us wants anymore. We keep having these surface-level check-ins where we say everything is fine but I can feel us both pulling in different directions and I don't know how to name it without potentially ending the friendship.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are holding onto a shared vision that no longer serves either of them, afraid that honesty about change will destroy what they've built together.
