When friendships lose their organizing power in your social circle

My best friend and I used to be the people everyone came to — we threw parties, organized group trips, held everything together. But over the past few years we've both gotten so busy and tired that we've stopped being the connectors, and now our whole friend group barely talks and when we do get together it feels forced and hollow. We keep saying we should do something about it but we're both secretly resentful that it always falls on us to make the effort.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The people who once held a community together are burning out, and neither wants to keep carrying the invisible labor of connection alone.
