When longtime friend groups outgrow each other

My friend group from college used to be really close but over the past few years we've grown apart and now when we do get together it feels forced and nostalgic in a sad way. We're all in such different places in our lives and I'm not sure if we're trying to maintain something that's already over or if there's a way to build something new together.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group of friends is grappling with the reality that shared history doesn't guarantee a shared future, and they're struggling to discern between natural evolution and preventable drift.
