When couples who share military service have different relationships to veteran identity

My husband and I are both veterans but we served in different wars and we're realizing we have totally different relationships to that identity and what it means. He's really involved in veteran organizations and talks about service all the time, while I mostly just want to move on with civilian life, and lately it feels like he thinks I'm somehow betraying our shared experience.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are discovering that sharing a formative experience doesn't guarantee sharing its meaning, and that different paths of integration can feel like judgment to the other person.
