When couples disagree about what belonging means in their community

My partner and I joined this intentional community three years ago thinking we'd found our people, but lately we're realizing we disagree about what it actually means to belong here — they think it's about shared activities and I think it's about deeper commitment, and we're both starting to feel like outsiders. We can't figure out if the problem is us, the community, or our completely different ideas about what belonging even is.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are discovering that their fundamental definitions of belonging are incompatible, threatening both their relationship and their place in a shared space.
