When group leaders notice belonging hierarchies forming

Our book club has been meeting for five years and we've become really close, but lately I've been noticing that some people seem to belong more than others and we've never acknowledged that dynamic. My co-facilitator and I are wondering whether belonging just naturally creates hierarchies or if there's a way to examine and change these patterns without destroying what we've built.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two people are recognizing that their cherished community has developed exclusionary dynamics that challenge their beliefs about what egalitarian belonging requires.
