How friend groups navigate when someone gets sober

Our friend group has been tight for over a decade but ever since Jake got sober two years ago there's been this weird tension — some of us have adjusted and some of us haven't and we all pretend everything is fine but our gatherings feel different now. We keep planning things around drinking without thinking about it and then feeling awkward, and Jake never says anything but I can tell he feels left out sometimes.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group that defined itself around shared habits must now figure out who they are when those habits no longer work for everyone.
