When community groups split over what belonging requires

Our neighborhood organizing group started because we all cared about the same issues, but now we're split between people who think belonging here means agreeing on everything and people who think it means being able to disagree and still show up for each other. The conflict is getting so intense that people are starting to leave, which feels like it proves both sides right and wrong at the same time.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A group is discovering that their crisis stems from fundamentally different beliefs about whether belonging demands conformity or can withstand difference.
