When family traditions become hollow after some members lose faith

My family has this tradition of gathering for holidays that always included saying grace together, but now that some of us have left the church and some haven't, these moments have become awkward and tense and nobody knows what to do. We're all trying to preserve family unity but we don't share the foundation that used to make these rituals meaningful.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A family learning that rituals can become prisons when they no longer serve everyone they're meant to unite.
