Scenario

When your partner wants to participate in Indigenous ceremonies but your community has concerns

My non-Native partner wants to participate in ceremony with me but some of my relatives think it's inappropriate and I'm caught between honoring my community's boundaries and including the person I love most. We've talked about it but every conversation ends with both of us feeling hurt and misunderstood about something that touches the deepest parts of who we are.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The tension between intimate love and cultural protection creates a crucible where personal relationship and collective wisdom must find their way to each other.
