When couples experience shared service differently

My wife and I volunteer together at a homeless shelter through our synagogue, but lately we're experiencing it completely differently - she comes home energized and I come home overwhelmed and sad, and when we try to talk about it she thinks I'm being negative and I think she's not seeing the real depth of suffering. Our shared service is becoming a source of distance instead of connection.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

You are discovering that witnessing suffering together does not guarantee seeing it the same way.
