When spiritual discussion groups become divided

Our book club has been meeting for three years to discuss spiritual texts, but lately every discussion turns into an argument about politics and religion, and half the group wants to keep it purely intellectual while the other half thinks we're avoiding the real implications of what we're reading. I started this group to explore truth together and now I'm wondering if that was naive.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Seekers must choose between the safety of abstract inquiry and the danger of letting wisdom change them.
