How book clubs handle spiritual content conflicts

Our book club has been meeting for years but since we started reading spiritual memoirs, two people have become very vocal about their atheism whenever anyone shares something that moved them, and the whole group is walking on eggshells. We used to be able to discuss anything but now there's this underlying tension about who gets to have which kind of experience.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Intellectual exploration becomes emotionally fraught when people's fundamental worldviews feel threatened by others' openness to transcendent experience.
