When religious communities face leadership scandals and transparency conflicts

Our synagogue's rabbi left abruptly after some kind of personal scandal that the board won't really explain and half the congregation thinks we deserve more transparency while the other half thinks we should respect his privacy and move on. The high holidays are coming and we need to find someone to lead services but we can't even agree on whether we should address what happened or pretend everything is normal.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

A community's need for truth collides with its desire for healing when trusted leadership fails in ways that cannot be openly discussed.
