Rumination is the mind caught in repetitive loops — returning to the same content without progression, mistaking re-rehearsal for processing. From a Sutric perspective, this is citta spinning in the same vṛtti groove, deepening the channel with each pass rather than moving through and beyond it. The exit from rumination is not forceful suppression but the cultivation of the witness capacity that can observe the loop without entering it.
Each step builds on the last.
