Attachment Style Prompting for Personalized Couples Communication

When couples coaching uses prompts calibrated to each partner's attachment style, both people receive communication suggestions that feel doable rather than threatening, which dramatically increases the chance they'll actually try them. An anxious partner might need reassurance woven into boundary-setting, while an avoidant partner might need space explicitly permitted before they can engage with closeness.

Why It Matters

Attachment style prompting is the practice of explicitly providing an AI with information about one or both partners attachment orientations, such as anxious, avoidant, or secure, so that generated advice, conversation starters, or message drafts are calibrated to the specific emotional wiring of the people involved. Without this context, AI defaults to generic relational advice that may feel misaligned or even counterproductive.

When couples or individuals build attachment context directly into their prompts, AI outputs become significantly more targeted, helping an avoidant partner understand why space-giving language matters or helping an anxious partner phrase reassurance-seeking in ways that do not trigger withdrawal from their partner.
