Presence as Primary Currency

Practicing attentive, embodied presence rather than material provision as the deepest form of parental love and family belonging.

Rabia
Why It Matters

Rabia renounced material wealth and luxury, finding that God's presence was the only treasure worth pursuing. In adoptive parenting, this principle counters the subtle ways some parents attempt to 'prove' they are the real family through financial security, educational advantage, or material accumulation. While stability matters, presence matters more. A child who has experienced loss needs the parent's actual attention, emotional availability, and willingness to be present during difficult moments—not expensive vacations or products. This framework is especially valuable for adoptive parents who may unconsciously try to 'make up for' what the child lost through material means. Instead, presence practices—consistent time together, genuine listening, showing up during struggles, remaining engaged through the child's emotional complexity—communicate at the deepest level: 'You matter more to me than anything else.' This recreates secure attachment through the parent's simple, sustained presence.
